Paragliding club ALBATROS

Group of pilots, gathered around a mutual interest, founded in Nis at the end of 1994. Paragliding club ALBATROS. Main goals of the club are: organized and safe flying, popularization of the sport, education, enlistment of members, taking part in all levels of competitions, organization of competitions and reviews and protecting the natural environment of the flying areas around Nis.

During the past 15 years, more than 60 pilots have been educated by our club. Every year, in traditional term at the end of June, around Vidovdan, the club organizes big cross country competitions. Several terrains were fixed in surroundings, and Nis became the capital of Balkan paragliding. Albatros’ pilots are very proud on the fact they initialized foundation of clubs in Knjazevac, Pirot, Despotovac and Aleksinac.

The club's biggest successes are: 2 senior national championship titles, one women’s and one junior national title, two in team championship titles, as well as several second and third places.

At the moment our club has 25 active pilots, the oldest is 72 and the youngest is 17 years old.

So far, we have organized 16 cross country competitions on terrains above villages Sicevo and Oreovac: 5 Balkan cups, 5 national championships, 2 World cup events, Slovenian and Macedonian championships, pre-European and European championship, which was, by the number of competitors and their quality, the biggest aeronautic competition held in this area.
